Opus Plasma™ laser treatment represents the next generation of fractional skin resurfacing treatments for women and men of most skin types who want to minimize wrinkles and reverse damage caused by the sun and the natural aging process.
The procedure’s versatility enables us to adjust treatment intensity from light to aggressive, depending on the patient’s skin condition and goals.
The innovative platform combines radiofrequency (RF) energy with plasma created when the RF energy emitted from the tips of metal pins reacts to atmospheric pressure.
Like other laser skin resurfacing treatments, Opus Plasma™ removes only a fraction of the skin in the targeted area. Fractional skin resurfacing creates thousands of tiny micro-injuries to the skin while leaving the surrounding tissue undamaged. The body’s natural healing response repairs these controlled wounds by producing new collagen and elastin, the building blocks of smooth, youthful-looking skin.
The benefits of an Opus Plasma™ treatment include:
-
Reduced appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and loose and saggy skin
-
Overall skin rejuvenation
-
Minimized acne scars, surgical scars, and stretch marks
-
Popular treatment areas include the face, neck, abdomen, and arms.
GLIDE TIP
Provides gentle and fast ablation of the entire face in 10–15 minutes. Can be used for the whole body.
FOCUS TIP
Guarantees gentle exposure with thermal coagulation to the delicate skin.
COLIBRI TIP
0.7 mm thick attachment helps with ablation and thermal coagulation in hard-to-reach areas.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Although the use of Opus Plasma® has relatively few contraindications – compared to other therapeutic methods – the following may be considered as one of them:
BEFORE & AFTER
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS WITH OPUS?
Visible results in 1 treatments. Optimal results in 2-3 treatments.
WHAT ARE THE TARGET AREAS FOR OPUS PLASMA?
Patients love Opus Plasma because it’s gentle enough to treat the face, neck and décolleté, which are sometimes avoided with other treatments yet aggressive enough to tighten skin on the body such as the stomach, arms, hands and knees as well as treat stretch marks and scars. Opus Plasma is also gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin, such as the delicate skin around the eyes or above the lips (‘smokers lines’). This advanced technology offers an unparalleled level of customization due to its unique features customizable tips.
OPUS VS MICRONEEDLING AND RADIO FREQUENCY
Opus Plasma and micro needling with radiofrequency devices both work to jumpstart collagen production and elastin through a wound healing response. In addition, both devices use heat (radiofrequency) to access skin at deep levels to tighten the skin. The markedly difference between the two is unlike micro needling devices Opus Plasma does not use needles to penetrate the skin. It combines two powerful modalities metal pins charged with micro plasma energy and radiofrequency (RF) to heal the skin both on the surface and within deeper layers. When the device gets close to your skin, the unipolar radiofrequency energy emitted from its metal pins reacts with the air to generate plasma. This plasma creates tiny channels or microinjuries in your skin to stimulate new collagen and elastin production. Because the plasma energy is fractional, it only treats a fraction of an area at a time, leaving the surrounding skin intact for even faster healing and recovery times. The micro plasma technology allows the provider to customize the depth and power of the treatment into the skin with simple setting changes. The use of micro plasma comes with unparalleled precision when controlling contact with the skin and reducing unwanted inflammation when treating sensitive areas such as around the eyes and mouth. This makes it superior in many ways over micro needling alone.
IS OPUS PLASMA SAFE FOR ALL SKIN TYPES?
Yes. It is safe for all skin types, even dark skin. Some skin resurfacing treatments carry a risk of hypo or hyperpigmentation for deeper skin tones, but Opus Plasma is approved for Fitzpatrick I-VI and can be performed year round even during summer months.
WHAT IS A TYPICAL OPUS PLASMA TREATMENT LIKE?
For a typical treatment, we first apply a topical anesthetic. Once the anesthetic has taken effect, we remove it completely before proceeding with treatment. The treatment itself is typically only mildly uncomfortable and most patients tolerate the treatment well. Following treatment, you will experience some redness, which will typically fade within a few days. For more aggressive treatments patient can expect more downtime, but still considerably less downtime than traditional full ablative resurfacing treatments such as CO2 lasers.
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY OPUS TREATMENT?
Hydration is very important prior to your treatment. We recommend increasing your daily water intake starting 3 days before your appointment. Also, you should stop retinoids prior to the treatment.
WHAT IS RECOVERY LIKE, ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
Unlike traditional full ablative laser treatments, Opus Plasma patients can experience drastically less downtime with better results. It’s common for patients to experience mild-moderate redness on the treated areas similar to a sunburn that quickly improves over the next 2-3 days and on occasion minor swelling. Very rarely, patients may experience crusting in areas that have been treated more aggressively. However, most patients can return to their regular schedule immediately after treatment and fully recover after 3-7 days.
WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW AFTER AN OPUS TREATMENT?
Following a typical treatment, you will need to protect yourself from direct sun exposure for 2 weeks and apply broad spectrum SPF sunscreen while outdoors. You can restart exercise after 24 hours. Make up usually after 2 3 days. If you are using topical anti-aging cream, you can restart 2 weeks post treatment. Wash with a gentle mild soap and apply post-treatment protective gel or an occlusive topical agent such as Aquaphor while skin is healing. Gentle facials between treatments are also recommended to help with exfoliation.
HOW LONG WILL MY RESULTS LAST?
Results will typically last for many years, although the aging process will slowly continue as it always does. After initial series of treatments, yearly maintenance treatment is recommended to maintain results.
